Daw to return to senior footy for North Melbourne

North Melbourne defender Majak Daw will return to the Kangaroos' senior side on Friday night for the first time since the severe injuries he suffered in late 2018.

Daw returned to North Melbourne's VFL side last season but a hamstring injury blunted his run back to the senior side. Kangaroos coach Rhyce Shaw announced on Thursday he would play against the Western Bulldogs in the Marsh Community Series match on Friday night against the Western Bulldogs.

"I am really proud and happy to say that Maj will play," Shaw said. "It is going to be a really exciting time for him and his family, for the club.

"We are really pumped for him ... The way Maj has gone about his footy since we returned for pre-season, it has been a long journey for him and he's really put his head down and stuck to his task and really re-educated himself on what it takes to be an AFL footballer.

"He knows he is in for a tough battle with our backline, no one is given a game, so he has got to perform. We are really pleased with where he is at right now."
