Constable shoots self in barrack in Chandauli

Varanasi: A police constable Ashutosh Mishra (27), a resident of Banda district, committed suicide by shooting himself with the service rifle of his colleague at Mughalsarai Kotwali police station in Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Nagar of Chandauli district on Wednesday.
Chandauli ASP Prem Chand said, “Constable Mishra shot himself in police station barrack. Policemen rushed on hearing the gunshot and found him lying in a pool of blood. The bullet pierced his jaw and head.”
Chandauli SP Hemant Kutiyal and senior officials rushed to police station while forensic team was summoned.
ASP Chand said, “He was resting after his duty when head constable Pradeep Pathak put his service rifle on bed and went to toilet. Mishra used the same rifle. No suicide note was found. Mishra also broke his mobile phone before committing suicide.”
“We have sought his call details record and messages to get any clue. His family has been informed,” he added. Mishra was a constable of 2016 batch.
