BSc student caught writing HSC exam for friend

Nagpur: Vigilant invigilators at a centre of HSC exam on Tuesday booked a BSc student who was appearing for the exam for his friend. The BSc student had changed the photo on the hall ticket of the friend to evade being caught.
Bajaj Nagar police have registered a case of fraud against the HSC candidate and his friend. The accused have been identified as Rahul Bagde and his friend Vinay Maurya, both 20 and residents of Bhim Nagar.
According to police, the actual candidate was Maurya and as his sister was getting married in Uttar Pradesh, he wanted to attend the wedding. He asked Rahul, a third year BSc student, to appear for his English paper scheduled for February 18.
Maurya’s centre for exam was Nutan Bharat Junior College. Maurya and Rahul made a fake hall ticket with latter’s photo and also took its colour printout.
While Maurya left for UP for wedding, Rahul went to the centre to appear in the exam. While checking hall tickets, invigilators suspected something fishy. While taking signatures of candidates, invigilators spotted difference in photo on the hall ticket and one on list of students.
Invigilator then informed Bajaj Nagar police about the dummy candidate appearing in the exam. During questioning, Rahul revealed his real name and also told cops he was impersonating Maurya as latter was attending his sister’s wedding.
Senior PI of Bajaj Nagar police station RA Kshirsagar said, “We have not arrested the BSc student or the HSC candidate as he is out of station. We have given a notice to the BSc student regarding the incident and a probing further.”
