Here’s the designer-approved way of baring it all this summer
If there’s one trend that made it almost every single show at the summer/resort 2020 runways, it would have to be summer-friendly layers. Dresses, kurtas and even tailored separates in sheer fabrics were part of most designers’ line-ups at the recently-concluded season of Lakmé Fashion Week. From lengthy romantic dresses to short playful versions, and evening wear to dresses for brunch, the ubiquitous trend took form in a wide variety of silhouettes. Ahead, we take you through some of the stand-out pieces from the runways.
Sticking to the quintessential summer colour palette—of pastels and muted neutrals—labels Gazal Mishra, Tahweave and Rara Avis showcased billowy numbers featuring frills, gathers and layers. More romantic iterations dominated the line-up at Kanelle and Buna. While the former introduced pops of colour , Pallavi Shantam of Buna and Ragini Ahuja of Ikai only used neutrals in their collections. Ivory and sheer might seem as the ideal combination for sunny afternoons, others designers reimagined see-through fabrics to make irresistible cocktail wear too. We spotted hues from all ends of the spectrum—Gauri & Nainika’s pristine white ruffled gowns, beaded nude sheath dresses by Sunaina Khera and shimmery bodycons at Shivan & Narresh.
Scroll ahead to take a look at the best see-through dresses Vogue spotted at Lakmé Fashion Week summer/resort 2020.
