KURUKSHETRA: To track the movement of
garbage collection vehicles in Thanesar MC area, they will be kept under the surveillance of CCTV cameras and GPS. Stating this here on Monday,
Kurukshetra deputy commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata said a control room for this has been set up at his residence.
“These vehicles will leave their parking spot near the fire station in Thanesar at 7.30 am for
garbage collection. Any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated. The concerned officials of Thanesar MC have been instructed to install CCTV cameras at the parking spot of these tippers along with GPS systems in each of these vehicles,” Khadgata said.
The officer added that officials have been asked to ensure barricading around Pipli dumping site and evacuation at Mathana dumping site. “They have been asked to ensure cleanliness along the Ghaggar and Shahbad-Markanda rivers. The city magistrate will ensure the cleaning of river areas in the next seven days. The sanitation staff should be trained under Swachh Bharat Mission so that work of collecting and disposing dry and wet waste from door to door is done properly,” he added.
To facilitate sanitation work in the city council and municipalities at night, a night sweeping machine deployed soon. A schedule will be prepared for night sweeping and 10 teams will be formed for cleaning the commercial area and one or two teams in the remaining municipalities, he said.
To ensure smooth working, junior engineer level officers have bee delegated the powers to get encroachments removed from areas bordering civic body limits, Khadgata said. Police should also ensure challaning of encroachers and the city council should set up a team of competent youth to spread general awareness and compile data.
Additional deputy commissioner Veena Hooda, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Upasana, SDM Ashwini Malik, city magistrate Satbir Kundu, SDM Shahbad Dr Kiran Singh, SDM Pehowa Dr Sonu Ram, DSP Mamta Sauda and other officials also attended the meeting.
