Chinese tour groups in Moscow’s Red Square, outside the Louvre museum in Paris and under the shadow of Dubai’s Burj al-Arab were a common sight until this month. The camera-wielding Chinese tourists had become a global stereotype. But now, the scenario has started to change with Chinese tourists restricted in most countries.
As per official figures, Chinese visitors accounted for 150-million overseas trips in 2019, while they spent $130bn overseas in 2018, going up by 13% from the previous year, said China Tourism Academy.
