BELAGAVI: Three
Kashmiri students facing
sedition charges were on Tuesday shifted to Hindalga Central Prison in Belagavi district a day after a
Hubballi court sent the them to a 14-day judicial custody.
The students, who were nearly thrashed by rightwing activists in Hubballi on Monday morning while they were being taken to a court, have been kept in a separate cell with tight security to ensure their safety.
Kin of sedition case accused reach HubballiThe accused — Basit Ashiq Sofi, Talib Majeed and Mohiuddin Wani — who allegedly raised pro-Pakistan and azadi slogans are students of KLE Institute of Technology, Hubballi. Chief superintendent of police (prisons) Krishna Kumar confirmed the accused were brought to Hindalga
jail around 8am on Tuesday following threat perception. He added that parents and family members of the accused have arrived in Hubballi and they will be allowed to meet their wards.
