Ludhiana: Cop held with heroin dismissed

LUDHIANA: Commissioner of police Rakesh Agarwal dismissed head constable Balvir Singh on Tuesday, a day after he was arrested with heroin.
The Ludhiana unit of Special Task Force had arrested Balvir after 20g heroin was found on him near Transport Nagar late on Sunday night.
His is already facing trial in an extortion case.
On December 19, 2019, Balvir was arrested in the extortion case. “When he was deputed at anti-narcotics wing of Ludhiana commissionerate, he was accused of extorting Rs 6 lakh from a pharmacist of Rajguru Nagar. After arrest, he was placed under suspension. He came out on bail a month ago. Balvir is a drug addict,” said a cop.
