No plan to stop MSP for crops, says Raosaheb Dadarao Danve

Danve in Patiala on Tuesday
PATIALA: Trying to put an end to rumours that the Union government planned to stop the minimum support price (MSP) for several crops, Union minister of state for consumer affairs, food and public distribution, Raosaheb Dadarao Danve on Tuesday said there was no such proposal.
The minister, who during his two-day visit to Punjab visited the Food Corporation India (FCI) godowns at Sangrur, Patiala and Rajura, said there was no question of ending the MSP. He said Punjab was the grain bowl of the country and by no means the MSP could be stopped.
Interacting with the mediapersons at the FCI godowns in Patiala, Danve said as of now the central government was concerned about the shortage of storage facilities in Punjab and all efforts were concentrated at enhancing the same. "The Union government has already drafted plans to have 31 more steel silos in the state and tenders for setting up 21 have already been floated," he said.
