TRICHY: Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit on Wednesday said it is good to be religious minded as it will prevent people from committing sins. He also spoke about making India corruption-free.
The governor was speaking here after inaugurating Gyanotsav 2020 - an educational conclave organised by Shiksha Sanskriti Uthan Nyas, New Delhi.
“Human beings have weaknesses. We tend to commit sins thinking that no one is watching us. But if we are religious and fear God, our inner sense will prevent us from committing sins,” he said.
Speaking about a corruption-free India, the governor said former President of India A P J Abdul Kalam had stressed on leading a simple life by being content with “whatever we have.”
“Limit our necessities. Then, even if someone tries to bribe us, we will find it useless as we will not be driven by greed,” he said.
He asked educational institutions to become centres for social transformation. “Institutions shall adopt villages, provide them support, enlighten them about various schemes of the Centre and the state government and contribute to the welfare of the society,” he said.
