THIS JUST IN: Harry and Meghan will officially leave royal family on 31 March

Following discussions on Wednesday afternoon, it has been decided that Harry and Meghan will officially leave the royal firm on 31 March.

After almost two months of back-and-forth discussions since the duke and duchess's decision to step down as senior members of the royal family, and the queen's statement that followed saying they would lose their sovereign funds and HRH titles as a result, new meetings at Buckingham Palace took place this week.

A royal source revealed on Tuesday that "discussions are still ongoing", specifically in relation to the "use of the word 'royal'" for Harry and Meghan going forward. While that has yet to be determined, it has been confirmed that the duke and duchess will close their Buckingham Palace office and will no longer be considered working royals as of 1 April, according to ITV News.

Harry and Meghan will return to the UK on 28 February until 9 March for their final engagement, which includes an appearance at the Endeavour Fund Awards on 5 March, the Mountbatten Music festival at the Royal Albert Hall on 7 March, concluding with the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on 9 March.

Harry will attend an Invictus Games Choir event on 28 February and open the Silverstone experience with Lewis Hamilton on 6 March, while Meghan will attend an event for International Women's Day on 8 March.

The couple will also make other appearances later in the year as they continue to move between North America and the UK. Harry and Meghan will still make appearances and continue the work they've been doing in their own capacity, which includes attending the Invictus Games in May.

As for Prince Harry's military titles, he will retain that of Major, Lieutenant Commander and Squadron leader, but his honourary positions will not be used.
