The ATDC claimed that the tourism sector had to incur a loss of Rs. 500 crore per month when the anti-CAA movement unfolded in the peak tourist season. The ATDC was the destination partner for the awards event. It claimed that the Times Group spent an additional Rs. 35 crore from their end in Assam that went to different entrepreneurs, hoteliers and other segments associated with the field.
ATDC chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah stated that almost 750 to 800 five-star and four-star category hotel rooms were booked for the event. The luxury cars that were used during the show belonged to the locals. Moreover, the camera, crane and equipment were taken from Jyoti Chitrabon.
The ATDC would retain the rights of eight superior quality promos made for the event, using them for state tourism promotion. Stars like Alia Bhatt, Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar and Varun Dhawan are featured in the promos.
Speaking about the impact of the award function, Baruah added that with its expected reach to 200 crore television viewers worldwide, the Filmfare Awards show would encourage people across the globe to see ‘Awesome Assam’ which was extensively promoted during the event.
“As per Times Group data, eighty stars, artistes and their associates belonging to different categories attended the function. Akshay Kumar, Madhuri Dixit, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Taapsee Pannu, Govinda among others attended the event,” Baruah said.
“The culture of Assam, its folk dances, Sattriya culture and the local artistes were promoted during the event. A time of 9 to 12 minutes was given for Assam-specific events. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed in making it a success,” he added.
