LUDHIANA: Less than a month after
stray dogs had mauled a four-year-old boy to death at
Bahomajra village in Khanna, they killed a 12-year-old girl at
Naulri Khurd village of Samrala on Tuesday late evening. The deceased was identified as Simran, daughter of Jugal of Bihar, who lived in Naunri Khurd village. She was studying in fourth standard at a government school in the village.
Police officials said that Jugal along with his wife and many children lived at the tubewell of
Sukhdev Singh of the village for last eight years. They added that Jugal works as labourer to support his family and his wife also works as farm labourer.
Cops said that on Tuesday evening at around 6.30pm, the family sent Simran to gather left over potatoes from the fields to cook for dinner. They added that as she didn’t return for more than an hour, they got worried and started searching for her.
Police officials said that around 8pm, a migrant labourer saw stray dogs having gathered around a spot. They added that on going near, he was shocked to see the dogs feeding on a dead body of a girl and he later informed the villagers.
