EXCLUSIVE: BS6-Compliant Ford Endeavour To Be Launched This Month End

• The Endeavour’s new 2.0-litre diesel engine develops 170PS and 420Nm.

Ford India will launch the BS6-compliant Endeavour by the end of February 2020. Ford dealerships across the country have already started accepting bookings and have informed us that it’s expected to be priced around Rs 40 lakh (on-road). Further, the existing 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre engine won’t be upgraded to meet BS6 emission norms and will be discontinued eventually.  

The main change on the BS6-compliant Ford Endeavour lies under the hood. It will be offered with a new 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine putting out 170PS of power and 420Nm of torque. We expect Ford to offer this engine with both rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants. Also new is a 10-speed automatic transmission, a first in India!

Meanwhile, the existing 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre diesel engines won’t be upgraded to meet BS6 emission norms. Here’s a detailed spec comparison of the existing engines and the new 2.0-litre diesel engine:

The new 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine is not as powerful as the bigger 3.2-litre, 5-cylinder unit. It’s more powerful than the smaller 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder unit and the figures suggest it’ll offer a fair balance between both engines.
