44-yr-old cheated of Rs 67,800

PUNE: A resident of Navi Peth was cheated to the tune of Rs 67,800 in a mobile tower scam case.

The victim, 44-year-old Mahesh Shitole, approached Vishrambaug police station and lodged a case of cheating against an unidentified person.

As per the information shared by Vishrambaug police, the victim owns a farmhouse near Donje Phata situated near Sinhagad Fort. Shitole wanted to install a mobile tower at his farmhouse and searched for the contacts on the Internet.

The victim got a link online which could assist him in installing the mobile tower. After the victim shared his details on the link, he received a call from a person who informed Shitole that his request for installing the mobile tower has been approved and he would have to pay Rs 14,300 as mobile tower installation charges.

Once the victim paid the installation charges, he was asked to pay Rs 52,500 as security deposit and transportation charges. However, the mobile tower was not installed at the victim’s farmhouse. Police Inspector Ram Rajmane is investigating the case further.
