Chennai: 3 held for burgling businessman's house

CHENNAI: The Valasaravakkam police have arrested three men who were part of a four-member gang that burgled a businessman's house in Valasaravakkam. Police seized 64 sovereigns of gold, 4 lakh in cash and a car used in the burglary from them.
The arrested were identified as T Muruganandham, 37, of Tiruvarur, R Sudha Anand, 30, of Kovur and G Sankarapandian, 45, of Tirunelveli. A search is on for the fourth member, Jeevanandham. Police said the men had cases pending against them in Madurai, Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli.
On January 28, they noticed S Arumugam and his family waiting for a cab. After the family left, the gang broke into the house and escaped with 70 sovereigns of gold and cash. They removed the digital video recorder (DVR) attached to the CCTV cameras in the house.
The Valasaravakkam police identified the vehicle used by the men from CCTV camera footage in the neighbourhood. The car was found abandoned near Koyambedu with its number plate tampered. But police managed to trace Sudha Anand, its owner, who led them to the other two men in Tiruvarur.
