Brewery owner, aide arrested for murder

Rajkot: Owner of a country made liquor brewery and his aide were arrested on Sunday night for allegedly murdering a 32-year-old drunkard man over the issue of payment for liquor in Urban Health Sector in Junagadh on Saturday evening.
Police said the accused, identified as Sagar Rathod and Rahul Vala, had allegedly killed Vijay Ghughal with sticks.
During their interrogation, Rathod and Vala told the cops that Ghughal used to visit the brewery daily and would not pay for the liquor he consumed. On Saturday, when he refused to pay, they beat him up with sticks.
“When Ghughal fell unconscious due to the beating, the accused laid him on the verandah and threw a bucket full of water on him. However, when he did not come around, they called up Ghughal’s uncle Amu. Amu took Ghughal’s father Heera to the spot where the accused told them that Ghughal was rendered unconscious due to heavy drinking,” said Pradeepsinh Jadeja, Junagadh deputy superintendent of police.
When the postmortem revealed that Ghughal had succumbed to injuries that he had suffered from beating, the police rounded up Rathod and Vala, as they were the prime suspects. During their questioning, the duo confessed to their crime.
