People must recognize Godavari river as a resource, not as an unending luxury: Waterman Rajendra Singh

​Commentating on the extant water crisis in the 21st century, Singh stated that climate refugees from Asian countries are already being forced to migrate to European countries to survive severe water distress.
WARANGAL: Rajendra Singh, known as "waterman of India", a Magsaysay Awardee addressed the students and staff of NIT Warangal on Tuesday. He gave insights into the water conservation and lift irrigation.


Commentating on the extant water crisis in the 21st century, Singh stated that climate refugees from Asian countries are already being forced to migrate to European countries to survive severe water distress.


Talking about his journey of "Aviral Nirmal Godavari" he explained how this journey is also an endeavour to reawaken the respect, sanctity, hygiene and health of Godavari River. Singh appealed to people that Godavari River must be recognised as a resource and not as an unending luxury.


Cautioning about an impending water problem in India and around the world, Singh emphasised on the importance of initiating rain water harvesting and hydro-conservation projects.


The Director NIT Warangal N Ramana Rao and the registrar S Goverdhan Rao attended the lecture.
