Marandi joins BJP, 2 JVM(P) MLAs merge with Congress

RANCHI: Jharkhand's first chief minister Babulal Marandi returned to BJP after 14 years on Monday when he merged his outfit, JVM(P), with the saffron party in the presence of Union home minister Amit Shah and former CMs Raghubar Das and Arjun Munda.Soon after Marandi joined BJP in Ranchi, the remaining two legislators of the three-member JVM-P legislature party joined Congress at AICC headquarters in Delhi.
The induction of Marandi, a former RSS veteran, is being seen as the first major step by BJP to overhaul its Jharkhand unit after the debacle in last year's assembly polls.
