Three days to exam, wrestler denied admit card over fee

Greater Noida: A private school in Greater Noida has denied the admit card to a student a few days before her Class X CBSE exams, saying she hasn’t paid her fees. Tanisha Nagar, who has also taken part in a few tournaments at the national level, is now uncertain if she will be able to appear for her exams, scheduled to begin in three days.
A student of Samsara — The World Academy, Tanisha claimed her principal had promised to waive 50% of the annual fee for those who had taken part in games at the national level. She alleged that the school authorities are now going back on their promise, and even produced a video recording of a speech by the principal announcing the fee waiver.
“This decision came as a huge relief to my family. We cleared 50% of the fee till September 2019. But when I went to collect my admit card, the school refused to issue it to me saying that I would have to make full payment,” said Tanisha.
Residents tried to back Tanisha’s cause, but the school authorities refused to oblige. The girl has also approached the district administration and written to chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
“It will be a great loss to my career if the school doesn’t allow me to sit for my exams. If they wanted the entire fee, why did they announce the waiver? My exam is in three days and I am here running around for my admit card,” Tanisha said.
She added she had taken part in a national-level tournament last year.
Anil Pandey, the school’s administrator, said Tanisha was yet to clear even 50% of the fee. “Yes, we said we’ll waive 50% of the annual fee. But they haven’t paid any money. She will at least have to pay 50% of the money. The allegations are baseless.”
