Driver with fake number plates made out of PAPER cops a $1,800 fine after police bust him behind the wheel without a licence or registration

- He made the plates out of paper before sealing them in plastic and cardboard
- The driver was also using an unregistered car and driving without a licence
A driver has been given $1,829 worth of fines after he was busted behind the wheel with 'crudely-made' number plates.
The 33-year-old was pulled over for random breath testing in Marayong, western Sydney on Friday when police noticed his number plates were made from paper and plastic.
The man had also been driving without a licence, and his Holden Astra had been out of registration since August last year.

'The plates were crudely made paper plates, sealed in plastic and affixed to cardboard backing,' NSW Police said.
The 33-year-old was hit with with several infringements including driving an unregistered vehicle which is a $686 fine.
He was also fined $686 for driving an uninsured vehicle and $457 for having a misleading number plate - as well as losing three demerit points.
The driver confessed to making the fake plates after his registration expired.
The car's number plates were seized by police and the driver is due to face Blacktown Local Court after allegedly driving with a licence refused by the RMS.
