Micro review: \'Better Than Sex\'

'Better Than Sex' is a beautiful exploration of the various joys relationships can hold.
The story starts with a woman, Meenu, leaving her family's home as she heads towards her in-laws home and into her new life. They are travelling in a bus from Lajpat Nagar in Delhi to Chandigarh, where the bride ponders over her new life. Though it's only a day's journey, the narrative explores generations of gender stereotypes and societal expectations through the character of the female protagonist. It also reflects the effect of the traditional and conservative system of the Indian society on one's psyche, be it a new bride or one of the in-laws. With well-placed humour and prose that is never preachy, she explores how relationships go far beyond the physical aspect and how they are evolving as times change.

The book would be relatable to anyone who remembers what it's like to be a newly-wed and a thought provoking read for anyone, no matter their opinions on marriage.
