PATIALA: In a protest against the meager stipend the MBBS students and interns of Government Medical College on Tuesday held a signature protest and then held a rally leading to Sangrur – Patiala road blockade for a few minutes.

Raising anti government slogans around 250 students and interns gathered held a rally first on the college and then at Government Rajindra Hospital.

They alleged that the stipend given to interns during their compulsory internships was not raised in last 10 years whereas their fee in last few years only had jumped many times. They are getting stipend of Rs 9000 per month.

They said that the stipend was much more in neighbouring states in comparison to Punjab. They claimed that this was the reason the MBBS students and interns across the state were protesting against state government.
