NGO volunteers have been painting the wall with messages, images for US President Trump, PM Modi

If walls could speak, they would be telling US President Donald Trump a lot of things that Amdavadis want to tell him or welcome him with. One such wall is the one right opposite Motera Stadium which he will visit on February 24. Probably the last wall that the visiting dignitaries would be seeing before they enter the stadium, this one has been painted specially with pictures and messages to welcome them.

Trump and Modi’s faces have been painted side-by-side, with messages like ‘World’s largest democracy meets world’s oldest’, among others. Another message says, “Together we can improve the environment”. The artwork has been done by a local NGO working in the area of creating awareness about environment and cleanliness for past few years.

Ashok Badjatya, a volunteer with NGO Catch Foundation, appeared excited when Mirror caught up with him while he was busy painting away on the wall. “It is a matter of pride for us that such a big personality is coming here. We have been painting walls for last couple of years to spread messages in the society.”

The NGO’s founder, Bharat Sisodia, said, “We have been making such paintings in Motera and Chandkheda area for last couple of years. These messages are for them when they pass by this wall before entering the stadium. Environment is a big issue nowadays. We have highlighted it so that both the countries together work on improving it. We have also talked about cleanliness as Swachh Bharat is PM’s pet project.”
