Virat Kohli hits 50 mn followers on Instagram

Not that social media followers are the only factor when it comes to measuring or quantifying a personality’s popularity, but they play an important role in determining the impact a personality has on people. It turns out, the captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli has achieved a new milestone in his innings on Instagram.

The 31-year-old cricketer has become the first Indian to hit 50 million followers on the app, leaving behind Priyanka Chopra who is at 49.9 million followers.

Taking the third spot with 44.1 million followers is actress Deepika Padukone.

The Indian captain has 930 posts on the platform and is following 480 people. Our very own 'desi girl' on the other hand, has a whopping 3,056 posts and follows 505 people.

The Indian cricket team is all set to take on New Zealand in the two-match Test series on February 21.

One of the most awaited nights in Indian cricket, the BCCI awards, took place in Mumbai on Sunday.
