NEW DELHI: Nifty commodities index was trading in the red in Tuesday's session.

Shares of NMDC Ltd (down 8.42 per cent), National Aluminium Company (down 4.48 per cent), Jindal Steel & Power (down 4.1 per cent), Hindalco Industries (down 4.07 per cent), NHPC (down 3.64 per cent), Steel Authority of India (down 3.15 per cent), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (down 2.9 per cent), Dalmia Bharat (down 2.87 per cent), Tata Steel (down 2.71 per cent), UPL Ltd (down 2.68 per cent), HPCL (down 2.59 per cent), Vedanta (down 2.53 per cent), Grasim Industries (down 2.37 per cent), Ambuja Cements (down 2.23 per cent), Shree Cement (down 2.2 per cent), NTPC (down 2.09 per cent), JSW Steel (down 1.96 per cent), PI Industrial (down 1.71 per cent), Tata Power Company (down 1.26 per cent) and Reliance Industries (down 1.04 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty Commodities index was trading 1.58 per cent down at 3247.85 around 02:06 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 113.75 points at 11932.05 , while the BSE Sensex was down 358.54 points at 40,697.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 13 were trading in the green, while 37 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, TV18 Broadcast, BHEL, SBI, Bank of Baroda, SAIL, NTPC and ONGC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
