The Land Rover Discovery Sport is a vehicle I wouldn’t mind having in my garage! It looks like the vehicle that I could go to the far corners of the planet with and take my family along without them ever complaining about being uncomfortable. And boy does it look good! With the tweaks it has received, the new Discovery Sport sure looks the part and comes across as an awesome deal for anyone interested in a luxury SUV.

What Land Rover has to say about the new Discovery Sport

Fuelling the spirit of adventure, the vehicle consists of improved features that not only enhance the capability of the vehicle but also elevate the complete driving experience. It further strengthens the distinctive design and versatility that has made the Discovery Sport one of the leading models in the Land Rover portfolio.”

Land Rover Discovery Sport – What you need to know

The new Discovery Sport carries a purposeful stance and has that typical Land Rover design flair. Those subtle clean lines give it a timeless look that is rather elegant. The new premium LED headlights and Daytime Running Lights do their bit to spice things up at the front end of business, while the rear gets those characteristic LED taillights. Sitting on massive wheels, the Discovery Sport looks like it can take on any terrain (and they would be right in boasting about that too!).

The cabin carries an upmarket finish thanks to the fine fitment done by Land Rover craftsmen and their use of high-end materials. There is a sense of openness to the cabin and no matter which row you are seated in; you will get that airy feeling of being free. With class leading contoured seats for exceptional comfort, the new Discovery Sport is a cabin you really won’t feel like leaving. Add to that, you get a ton of storage space on board as well, so if you do intend on taking it out on an adventure you are rest assured that you can carry all your supplies and more along with you!

Speaking of going on an adventure, the new Discovery Sport comes with an enhanced list of features. Firstly, you get the new display screen and the centre console that gives you access to a plethora of features. The Disco Sport now comes with the advanced Land Rover InControl Touch Pro Infotainment system as standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Smart settings in the system use artificial intelligence algorithms to learn driver preferences. You get wireless charging, massage seats, a 4G WI-FI hotspot on board and a Meridian sound system for that quality playback. To enhance the wellbeing of all on board, the Discovery Sport also gets cabin air ionization technology.

Land Rover is also offering the InControl Remote & Protect App that allows you to connect with your Discovery Sport from anywhere. You can check on vital data such as fuel status to whether the doors are locked and the windows are up. Further to that, it gives you emergency dialling and a breakdown call facility.

Topping the list of ‘cool’ features is the ClearSight Rear View Mirror that transforms the rear view mirror into an HD video screen at a touch of a button. This screen displays a rear facing camera feed onto the mirror which allows the driver to see, even if the actual rear view is obstructed by a passenger or large items in the rear.

Built on the new Land Rover Premium Transverse Architecture (PTA), the Discovery Sport is now touted to be even more capable than before. It gets all wheel drive, hill descent control, all terrain progress control and of course it comes equipped with Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2. In addition to that, the new Discovery Sport gets a torque vectoring by braking system to maximize control while taking tight corners. Built to go anywhere, the new Discovery Sport also has a class leading wading depth of 600mm.

Powering the new Discovery Sport is a range of BS 6 compliant powertrains. For the petrol lovers, there is the 2.0 litre turbocharged 48-V mild hybrid unit that delivers 250 PS of power and 365 Nm of torque and for those who prefer the grunt of a diesel motor, they can opt for the 2.0 turbo diesel unit that delivers 180 PS of power and 430 Nm of torque.

Available in the S trim and the R-Dynamic SE trim, the Discovery Sport pricing starts at INR 57.06 lakh and goes up to INR 60.89 lakh for the petrol models. The diesel version prices are yet to be announced.
