56 lakh students to take UP Board exams from today
To crack down on copying mafia who facilitate mass cheating in UP Board exams, the UP government has set up a state-level ‘monitoring and control room’ for CCTV surveillance and to monitor voice recordings.

LUCKNOW: Over 56 lakh candidates will appear for the UP Board class X, XII examinations, set to begin from Tuesday. Almost 30 lakh class X students will be taking elementary Hindi and 26 lakh class XII students are appearing for general Hindi exam on day one. The exam is being held at 7,784 centres across the state. Both high school (class X) and intermediate (class XII) exams will end on March 6.
A total of 56.1 lakh candidates have registered for the examinations, over two lakh less than the 58.6 lakh in 2019. In class X, out of 30 lakh candidates who registered online, 20,789 would appear as private candidates. Out of 26 lakh candidates who had registered for class XII exams, 69,983 are private candidates.
To crack down on copying mafia who facilitate mass cheating in UP Board exams, the UP government has set up a state-level ‘monitoring and control room’ for CCTV surveillance and to monitor voice recordings. To keep a close vigil, nearly 2 lakh CCTV cameras have been installed at 7,784 centres in 75 districts of UP. Around 2 lakh invigilators have been put on duty.
The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UPSEB) has identified 938 centres as ‘sensitive’ and 395 as ‘hyper-sensitive’ which means these centres are vulnerable for cheating. Sensitive districts will use colour-coded and threaded answer-copies. The class X answer-copies will be pink and yellow and that of class XII will be green and blue. The idea is to ensure that they can’t be replaced or their pages taken out by any unauthorised person.
In a first, the UP government has launched a Twitter handle, @upboardexam2020 for immediate redressal of any kind of complaints and queries. In addition, helpline numbers for the control room — 1800 180 6607, 0522-2239198 and e-mail id: boardexam2020.up@gmail.com and toll free numbers 1800 180 5310 and 1800 180 5312 can be used to register complaints of anything related to UP Board exams.
On the eve of UP Board exams, deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma made an appeal to parents to not have unnecessary high expectations from their children. Instead, parents should create a healthy atmosphere and balanced diet for them, Sharma appealed.

Special buses for UP Board candidates |
In a first, in the interest of the candidates appearing for the UP Board exams, the UP government has made provision of special exam buses which were flagged off by deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma on the eve of the exams. Principal secretary Aradhana Shukla said that one bus will run from each depot, except Lucknow from where four buses will run. With UP having 115 depos, a total of 119 special buses will be on the job. “These buses will cover the farthest route where normally buses do not ply.
