Truck slams brakes, man in car crashes into it, dies

Gurgaon: A man died after his car crashed into a truck on the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) on Saturday. Police have filed an FIR and are trying to identify the truck driver, who had suddenly applied the brakes, causing the collision.
The man who died has been identifed as Chetan Yadav, a resident of Badshapur. In his complaint to police, Chetan’s cousin Tularam said he was having tea with a friend near the police post on SPR around 2.15pm on Saturday when he saw a truck being driving rashly and at a very high speed. There was a Maruti Swift right behind the truck.
“The truck was about to crash into the divider and then applied brakes all of a sudden, causing the Swift to ram into it from behind. As a result, the car was heavily damaged,” Tularam told police.
When he and his friend rushed to help the person inside the car, he found out that the man behind the wheel was his cousin Chetan. “We took Chetan out of the car and rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way,” Tularam said in his complaint. In the meanwhile, the truck driver left it behind and fled.
Tularam informed police, and a team arrived at the hospital where Chetan had been taken. On the basis of Tularam’s complaint, an FIR was registered at Badshapur police station under sections 279 (rash driving), 304A (death by negligence) and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the IPC the same day.
“We have registered a case and are trying to identify the accused and track him,” a police officer from Badshapur police station said.
Just a day before, a 29-year-old man had lost his life after being hit by a truck on Northern Peripheral Road, better known as Dwarka Expressway. Ravinder Kumar was hit by a truck on Thursday evening and succumbed to his injuries the next day. According to the complaint filed by his brother Neeraj Kumar, who was there with him when the incident took place, they were both coming back from work on their motorcycle when a truck hit them from behind.
