Celebratory firing death: Two arrested

Rajkot: In the investigation into the celebratory firing case that resulted in a death, Vallabhipur police station officials arrested two persons and booked one more on Sunday night. However, the main accused, Vishwarajsinh Gohil, is still at large.
In the celebratory firing during a marriage festivity, a bullet carelessly fired by Gohil got lodged in the head of Priyarajsinh Jadeja (20) and scorched the eardrum of Shaktisinh Jadeja (22) in Pachhegam village of Vallabhipur taluka in Bhavnagar district on Saturday night.
The police said Gohil had fired one round from his revolver, while there a garba dance programme was going on in the village.
Meanwhile, the police arrested Dharmadeepsinh Gohil, the groom at whose marriage the crime had taken place and Shailendrasinh Rana, a jawan from the Indian Army.
“In a video footage of the marriage festivities, we saw Dharmadeepsinh and Rana fire one round each from the revolver belonging to Rana. The footage shows that Rana approaches Dharmadeepsinh and hands him over his revolver. Dharmadeepsinh first fires in the air and then Rana also fires one round in the air,” said M D Makwana, sub-inspector with Vallabhipur police station.
The footage also showed Satyarajsinh Gohil opening fire in the air. The police have launched a manhunt for Satyarajsinh. The police have also seized Rana’s revolver and sent it to laboratory for forensic testing.
