America as we have known it is on the verge of disappearing. From the federal government all the way down to our family dinner tables, our beliefs and politics have become so fractured that the only solution seems to be to shout at each other or to stop talking altogether.

The longstanding divide in our political beliefs became more apparent during the 2016 national election and 2020 is proving to be no different. Trust in news sources is divided along party lines, according to a Pew Research Center report, and evidence suggests the partisan polarization has widened in the past five years.

Beyond media and politics, we disagree on basic questions like who belongs here, who deserves health care, what religious freedom means in daily life, and who can marry whom.

The divide is big and getting bigger. How would you bridge it so that everyone felt included and respected?
