Coronavirus outbreak: Quarantined scholar may go home soon

Samya Ray
BURDWAN: Wuhan University post-doctoral researcher Samya Ray, who has been quarantined after returning to India, is expected to reach his East Burdwan home early this week after he tested negative for Covid-19 infection.
“We cannot express our relief in words. We just hope he is able to return home safe,” his father Sujit told TOI on Sunday.
According to agency reports from New Delhi, all 406 people housed at an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) quarantine facility after being brought back from Wuhan have tested negative for Covid-19 and will be discharged in phases from Monday. The final samples of all those quarantined at the facility were collected on Friday, the reports said.
“We have spoken to Samya on Sunday and learnt that the final reports are negative. We are grateful to everybody for arranging his safe return,” Sujit said.
However, according to protocol, Samya will have to remain isolated at home for a fortnight.
