Man missing for a month found staying with friends

Ghaziabad: A 29-year-old MBA graduate, who has been missing from Raj Nagar for over a month now, was found living with his friends in a residential society in Mohan Nagar, which is just 11 kilometres away from his home, police said on Sunday.
This case sparked fear among the victim’s family on the heels of the high-profile murder case of Greater Noida resident Gaurav Chandel.
The police said Punit Sharma had gone missing with his Hyundai Creta car on January 5 evening but his family had reported the matter at Kavi Nagar police station only on January 25. The cops, on January 29, lodged an FIR in the case under IPC section 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder).
Punit’s father said his son had gone missing at 4pm on January 4. They were worried after finding similarities in the case with that of Chandel’s murder. Following a tip-off, Punit was traced near Columbia Asia Hospital where he was found driving his car on Saturday night, said an officer.
All these days, Punit was living with his three friends in Parsvnath Paradise.
SHO (Kavi Nagar) Mohd Aslam said: “Punit had switched off his phone after leaving his house. When questioned about his disappearance, he claimed to be facing marital discord with his wife and took the step to avoid any further escalation.”
Punit who had been working with a private firm in Sahibabad Industrial area had quit the job around two and a half months, said officials.
