In 2013, Rahul Gandhi did something that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was thinking about resigning from his post. This was revealed by former Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia in his new book 'Backstage: The Story Behind India High Growth Years'.

In this, Montek Singh Ahluwalia revealed that after the incident related to an ordinance tearing of Rahul Gandhi in 2013, the then PM Dr. Manmohan Singh asked him whether he should resign. Referring to this development in the book, Montek Singh Ahluwalia told PM Manmohan Singh at the time that he did not think it would be right to resign on this issue.

Significantly, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the controversial ordinance brought by the then United Progressive Alliance government of Manmohan Singh, disqualifying the Supreme Court's decision on the convicted public representatives. Rahul Gandhi called it complete nonsense and said that it should be torn apart.
