Meet 'The Beast': All you need to know about US President's car

NEW DELHI: The US President's official specially-designed car is also known as 'The Beast'. US President Donald Trump, who will land in Gujarat on February 24, will head directly towards the Sardar Patel stadium in Motera, in 'The Beast'.
Here is all you need to know about the current model of the limousine:

Windows
The windows of the car are made of five layers of glass and polycarbonate, they can withstand armour piercing bullets. Only driver's window can open and just upto 3 inches
Defence and protection
From protection, the vehicle had concealed pump-action shotguns, tear gas cannons, and blood bags for the US President
Driver's cabin
The driver's cabin has a proper communication and a GPS tracking centre
Body
Five-inch thick military grade armour made from combination material like steel, titanium, aluminium and ceramics
Front
The vehicle's front possesses tear gas grenade launchers and night vision cameras
Chauffeur
Trained by the US Secret Service, the driver can cope with the most challenging driving conditions. He is trained to make emergency escapes, evasions and can perform 180-degree turns
Rear seat
Has a satellite phone with a direct line to the US vice-president and Pentagon
Rear compartment
Can seat four persons apart from the US President. The interior is partitioned by a glass that can be lowered only by the President. There is also a panic button and independent oxygen supply in case of emergencies.

Armour-plated, filled with explosion prevention foam, can withstand a direct hit
Doors
Armour-plated, 8 inches thick , equal to the weight of a cabin door of a Boeing 757. When closed the door seals the car 100%, protects it against chemical weapons

Kevlar-reinforced, steel rims, shred and puncture resistant. The car can escape even with burst tyres

The Presidential cavalcade
Hazmat
This black truck carries sensors to detect, and a special gear to respond to any sort of weapon attack - be it nuclear, chemical or biological. It also doubles up as a storage vehicle
Roadrunner
It is a beefed-up SUV and has a large satellite communications array. Keeps the President and White House officials securely connected through encrypted voice, internet and video communications.
Watchtower
It has vertical antennas and special domes. Can jam any communication or remote detonating devices. It can also detect projectiles or unmanned air vehicles.
Support vehicles
They carry the President's doctor, members of the cabinet, a top military aid and their security detail and additional security men
CAT
These are usually the black suburbans or large SUVs, with police lights, and they always have their rear gates open with a heavily armed and armoured commando hanging out of the back, with an assault rifle at the ready. The CAT gives the presidential cavalcade its heavy hitting combat punch.
Halfback
The Halfback is usually the car immediately following the President's car called 'Stagecoach'. The Halfback carries the secret service protective detail.
