Bharti Airtel Monday deposited Rs 10,000 crore as part of its adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues to the government.
“.... we shave duly paid an amount of Rs 9500 crore on behalf of Bharti Airtel ( including in respect to Telenor India which was merged with Bharti Airtel ) and an amount of Rs 500 crore on behalf of Bharti Hexacomm...”, said the telco in a regulatory statement on Monday .
Airtel stock up 0.4% at Rs567.30 in early trade on the BSE
The telco added that it is completing its self assessment “expeditiously” and will pay before the next hearing of Supreme Court -which so far has been listed for March 17.
The telecom department had claimed Airtel has
AGR dues of Rs 35,000 crore . So far only Reliance Jio has paid its AGR dues of Rs 195 crore.
ET reported that the self assessment dues may be much lower than what the government has estimated .
