BICHOLIM: Chief minister
Pramod Sawant called for vendors in the Sakhali market to develop innovative tactics to attract customers, in order to tackle competition from shops that have opened in other parts of the municipality. He expressed concern that business in the market has been affected due to the “opening of shops in nearly every building from Honda village to Sakhali”. He also said that unorganised vendors should not be allowed to sell their wares— fish, fruits or flowers— on the roadside.
Sawant was speaking after laying the foundation stone for a new bridge connecting Bhandarwada to Vithalapur-Karapur, Sakhali, on Sunday. The new bridge will be constructed at the site of the existing pedestrians’ steel bridge.
