Jhansi: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, on Monday, reached Chitrakoot to review the preparations ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on February 29.
PM Modi, in his maiden visit to the place, is likely to lay down foundation stone of the 296 km long Bundelkhand Expressway in Gonda village under Bharatkoop area of Chitrakoot district.
The highway, starting from Gonda, will connect Jhansi- Allahabad highway to Agra-Lucknow highway in Etawa. It will pass through Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun and Etawah.
The 4-lane expressway, worth Rs 15,000 crore, will be expandable upto 6 lanes and will reduce the journey from Chitrakoot to Delhi to 5 hours.
Yogi said that the proposed expressway will prove to be the backbone of Bundelkhand and further investment of Rs 50,000 crore in Defense Corridor will generate job opportunities in the region.
During his visit, Yogi issued directives to all the officials regarding the preparations of the PM’s visit. The
CM was accompanied by CEO UPEIDA Avnish Kumar Awasthi. Talking to TOI, commissioner, Chitrakoot Division, Gaurav Dayal said maximum land acquisition for the project has already been done and the rest will also be completed soon.
