MUMBAI: The presence of mind shown by an alert motorman saved the life of a senior citizen at Byculla station on Saturday.
The motorman, Sanjay Chaudhari, was operating the CSMT-Kalyan slow train which had left CSMT at 10.20 am. "It reached Byculla station around 10.28 am when, from a distance, he saw an old man walking on tracks," said CR chief spokesperson Shivaji Sutar.

Commuters saw the man struggle to climb onto the platform but in vain. "I applied the brakes at once," Choudhari said in his statement.
The train halted in front of the senior citizen and he was saved in the nick of time. GRP and RPF staff pulled him up on platform 1.
