NCP chief
Sharad Pawar on Sunday said he suspected the Centre had something to hide about the erstwhile Devendra Fadnavis-led government in
Maharashtra, which is possibly why the probe into the
Elgar Parishad case was hurriedly transferred to the
National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Expressing his disapproval of Thackeray’s consent to a probe by the NIA into the Elgar Parishad case, Pawar had recalled two days ago the circumstances under which the Centre took the decision on January 24. “In the morning that day, deputy chief minister
Ajit Pawar and the home minister had a meeting with police officials to review details about the Elgar Parishad case. Strangely, the same evening, the Centre took a decision to transfer the case to the NIA,” he said.
Pawar maintained that the Maha
Vikas Aghadi government was stable.
