Kerala: Police serve eviction notice to Shaheen Bagh-model protest

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On its 14th day of protest, police have served eviction notice to the Shaheen Bagh-model protest in front of Kerala secretariat. The protesters have been given two days to voluntarily shift the panthal from the footpath in front of the secretariat. The Cantonment police have also served notice to the Justice for Walayar Kids Forum (JWKF), which is conducting a relay satyagraha in front of the secretariat since January 26.
In a notice served on Sunday morning, Cantonment police have informed that the panthal, located in a high security zone and obstructing the view of secretariat, is a serious security violation. “Usually one or two days are allowed to conduct protests. Indefinite protests would cause hinderance to the free movement of pedestrians and motorists,” said the notice.
The protesters said that they will not shift from the area. The police said that if the protesters fail to shift, they will remove panthal with the support of city corporation.
