Nine dead, 27 injured in bus accident in Karnataka's Udupi

The bus was carrying 35 passengers from an IT firm in Mysuru.
MANGALURU: Nine people were killed and 27 others injured after a bus collided against the hill abutting the road, after the driver probably failed to negotiate a curve at Mala, near SK Border in Karkala, Udupi district of Karnataka.
Preliminary reports suggested that the accident took place around 5.45pm on Saturday. Udupi superintendent of police N Vishnuvardhan was on the way to the hospital where the injured had been admitted. He said the bus was plying from Sringeri towards Mala.
Mysuru police have confirmed that the passengers were employees of Vital Records Private Limited near JCK Industrial Park. They were on a trip to Udupi, Hornadu and Kudremukh.
One male and three female employees died on spot and others killed in the accident are learnt to be the staff of the tourist bus.
