Baga hotel case: 10-day cop custody for all 38 accused

CALANGUTE: The 38 persons who were arrested by Calangute police for criminal trespass, theft and molestation of female staff of a hotel-cum-casino at Baga were remanded in 10 days police custody when they were produced before Mapusa JMFC on Saturday.
The bail application of the main accused was rejected. Advocate Arun Bras de Sa, representing the operators of the hotel, while objecting to the bail application of the main accused, said the case needed to be investigated further.
The main accused, said to be the owner of the hotel, had stormed into the casino on the ground floor along with the other accused early Thursday morning, in an alleged attempt to take physical possession of the premises that he had leased to another company. The matter is in dispute.
The accused also allegedly stole Rs 2.5 crore in cash and a large amount in casino chips.
