AHMEDABAD: With several delegates from the US and from across India visiting Ahmedabad for the ‘Namaste President Trump’ event, most 4-star and five-star hotels in Ahmedabad are operating at 100% occupancy on February 23 and 24. Apart from the
Trump trip, the peak wedding season, and the movement of business travellers will boost hotel occupancy.
“Several rooms have been booked for the delegates arriving for the US president’s event,” said the spokesperson of Renaissance Ahmedabad Hotel. “Because of the wedding season, several rooms were booked in advance. Our hotel has been completely sold out on February 23 and 24.”
Subhrajit Bardhan, the general manager of DoubleTree By Hilton, Ahmedabad, said: “The US Embassy has blocked 80 rooms at our hotel and delegates will start arriving from February 22.” Corporate events and the wedding season have kept the hotel nearly full, Bardhan said. “We’re left with a handful of rooms for both days and it is expected that they will be sold out,” Bardhan said.
“Our hotel was fully booked even before the US president’s visit was confirmed, since this is the peak season for corporate events and weddings,” said Sonika Chaturvedi, the general manager of Courtyard by Marriott.
The presidential suite along with other rooms have been blocked for the US president and the first lady at Hyatt Regency on Ashram Road, sources said.
