SIT formed to probe the incident

Rajkot: The Kutch Superintendent of police (west) Saurabh Tolumbia on Saturday formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate incident at Shree Shajanand Girls Institute of Bhuj. Mahila police inspector P H Lagdhirka, police inspector of B Division R N Khant, circle police inspector S B Vasava and Mahila police sub-inspector Archna Raval are part of the SIT.
The police on Saturday surveyed the place of offence with forensic team and collected the footages of CCTV from hostel. The police also recovered the notes from the victims in which principal Rita Raniga made students write that “We will not take any legal step in the alleged incident”.
This notes have been taken on the record as an evidence, said police. The police also called a female doctor of G K General hospital in the hostel for medical check up. However, the girls refused to undergo any medical check-up. The police on Saturday recorded statements of 45 girls, where all confirmed the incident. The police has also initiated the process to record the statements of the victims under CrPC section 164 before a magistrate.
