Allahabad: The three-member inquiry committee, constituted by the human resources development ministry to probe allegations of irregularities against Allahabad University’s (AU) former VC RL Hangloo during his tenure would be visiting the campus again on February 24.
This would be the committee’s second visit in February.
While the team would be led by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) vice-chancellor Nageshwar Rao, the committee’s other members would be vice-chancellors of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Amarkantak and Gujarat Central University — Prakash Mani Tripathi and Rama Shankar Dubey respectively.
On its last visit to the campus on February 6, the team had met several university officials, including the officiating VC RR Tewari. The panel members had invited complaints about irregularities and said anyone could submit them along with valid supporting documents by February 16. By Saturday, AU received 30 complaints along with the supporting documents.
Sources said AU officials were preparing a summary of the complaints, which would scrutinised by the three-member committee on their next visit.
“The committee would look into the summary and decide if they would like to meet any of the complainants in person,” said a senior AU official.
The news about the committee’s visit comes days after a three-member team of National Commission of Women (NCW) members met AU hostel inmates on Thursday and Friday.
The committee, led by NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma, had recommended that AU registrar NK Shukla and finance officer Sunilkant Mishra be removed from their respective posts.
AU public relations officer Shailendra Mishra said, “The two inquiry committees have been doing their work independently and AU authorities would be cooperating in every possible way.”
