MUMBAI: You can expect traffic jam at the
Sion flyover (over Sion T-junction) on Friday morning. The first of eight traffic blocks, each lasting four days, will begin from 5 am on Friday (Feb 14) and will continue till 5 am on Monday.
The traffic police have approved four days of closure of the flyover for each of the eight weeks. So, there will be 32 days of block till April 6. Each of these traffic blocks will starting either on Thursday or Friday. Thus, on initial weekdays when rush of vehicular traffic is heavy, you will be spared of jams.
After April 6, another 20 days of total traffic block will be undertaken from April 7 onwards to replace expansion joints between the girders and re-carpet the road.
Thus, the flyover will be opened fully only from the end of April - nearly after 52 days of traffic blocks on the flyover.
