THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Sabarimala temple was opened for Kumbha month pujas on Thursday evening. The temple was opened under the guidance of Kandararu Mahesh Mohanararu, and melsanthi (chief priest) A K Sudheer opened the sanctum sanctorum by offering prayers.
After the Azhi lighted below the holy steps by the melsanthi, the devotees were allowed to climb the holy steps to have darshan at the temple. Thousands of devotees had darshan on the first day itself. The temple will close on February 18.
During the five days that the temple remains open, there will be no special pujas. Abhishekam, neyyabhishekam, ushapuja, kalasaabhisekham, kalabhaabhishekam, padipuja, deeparadhana, etc, will be performed on these days.
