Gujarat: 30-year-old man arrested for eloping with minor

RAJKOT: A 30-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly eloping with a 17-year-old girl in Rajkot.
Police said the accused, identified as Sagar Meswania, had allegedly made the minor girl elope with him from her house near Nanda Hall on Kotharia Road locality in Rajkot.
The police have also booked the boyfriend of the minor girl’s cousin and a woman at whose house she was kept.
“On February 1, the girl along with her cousin went to meet her cousin’s boyfriend, identified as Vishal Parmar, who told the girl that he as calling Meswania and asked her to elope with him. Meswania kept the girl in the house of one woman identified as Abu, who, too, has been booked,” said V K Gadhvi, inspector with Bhaktinagar police station.
On February 2, Meswania dropped the girl back at her home. “After the girl narrated what had happened, her family members lodged a complaint against Meswania. However, the girl was not raped as her medical examination showed no sign of physical relationship,” added Gadhvi.
