Woman dies, child rushed to hospital after central Queensland crash
A woman has died and a one-year-old child has been rushed to hospital after a two-vehicle crash in central Queensland on Friday.
Forensic crash unit officers are investigating the fatal crash at Hay Point, about 40 kilometres south of Mackay.
Police said a car was travelling on Hay Point Road just before midday, when it crashed with a small truck travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the car, a 40-year-old local woman, died at the scene while a one-year-old child, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to the Mackay Base Hospital with serious head injuries.
The driver of the Isuzu light truck, a local man in his 50s, was also transported to the Mackay Base Hospital with serious injuries.
Investigations are continuing.
